Dior Date Code Check

No. The code states a production period, nothing more. Counterfeits routinely carry codes that look plausible at first glance. A sensible code is one clue among several, not proof.

The code is stamped on a leather tab inside the bag — on the reverse of the tab that reads Christian Dior PARIS on the front. On small leather goods it is often inside a pocket.

Do not confuse it with the number on the authenticity card. That one identifies the style, not the production date.

The usual format is two digits, two letters and four digits, for example 06-MA-1019. Older items carry just two letters and four digits, such as RU 0928.

What matters is the four-digit group at the end, read interleaved: positions 1 and 3 give the month, positions 2 and 4 give the year. So 1019 becomes November 2009.

They indicate the country of production. Publicly documented are MA and BO for Italy and MC for Spain.

Other combinations appear on genuine items. Dior does not publish the full list — we therefore state only what is documented rather than guessing.
